Willy Griffith's public ski career is built less around start lists than around filmed sessions. By 2020, he was already appearing in a large independent freeski cast, and within a few seasons his name became closely tied to Surface Skis. Rails, transition features, spring parks and occasional backcountry terrain became the recurring settings for a rider whose visibility came through crew projects rather than formal World Cup competition.
Griffith appeared in the trailer for Collage, the debut film from Entourage released in 2020. The project assembled a large cast including Elijah Vargas, Benjamin Janus, Jack Price, Ethan Dyer, Tennessee Scott-Lumbar, Noah Metzger, Sidney Simard, Charley Bingham, Jess McMurtry, Max Sanders and Griffith. The film established an early documented connection between Griffith and the independent freeski-film scene before Surface became the dominant name around his later projects.
By spring 2021, Griffith was filming directly with Surface at Mt. Hood. Surface @ Hood placed him alongside Konnor Ralph, Mike Kennedy, Graham Gray, Kellan Baker, Sam Gnoza, Joe Blount, Mitch Zyzelewski, Pete Arneson and Joe Joe Ciprari. Ethan Cook filmed and edited the ten-minute project while the team tested the brand's coming ski line across rails, jumps, park terrain and spring snow.
Griffith's 2022 appearances were not limited to terrain parks. He was included in BRAP SKI 2, directed by Karl Fostvedt and Axel Peterson. The backcountry project brought together riders including Daron Rahlves, Lucas Wachs, Thayne Rich, McKenna Peterson, Hedvig Wessel, Ridge Dirksmeier and Griffith. Powder lines and natural terrain gave his film record a different setting from the rail-heavy Surface edits that made up most of his public footage.
Later in 2022, Surface released Better Late Than Never, filmed during a May team shoot at Mt. Hood. Griffith joined Joe Blount, Kellan Baker, Vincent Authier, Konnor Ralph, Tereza Korábová, Mitch Zyzelewski and other Surface riders, with Tristan Steen handling filming and editing. The project reinforced Griffith's place inside the core Surface crew rather than as an occasional guest rider.
That relationship continued through 2023 and 2024. Griffith appeared during Surface Week at Windells, then travelled to Quebec with Tom Galarneau, Will Penrose and Stephan Siska for Some Season We're Having?. He also joined the Surface crew at Woodward Copper, where FREESKIER documented Griffith skiing the summer setup with Tom Galarneau, Jordan Cooper, Mike Kennedy and Mitch Zyzelewski. Surface now lists Griffith in the PRO section of its current team roster.
