Active: 2018-present | Known for: LINE Skis films and 2024 SuperUnknown Pro Rider of the Week | Sponsor: LINE Skis | Disciplines: park skiing, street skiing
Jed Waters built his skiing around rails, transitions and the freedom to approach a park without treating every lap like a contest run. By 2024, that style was on display at Mammoth during Level 1's SuperUnknown 21, where invited professionals shared the park with the event finalists. At the end of the week, Waters' fellow riders voted him Pro Rider of the Week, recognizing a skier whose path had increasingly moved away from formal competition and toward filming, street skiing and creative park lines.
Waters' public freeski record reaches at least to the summer of 2018. Windells listed him among the skiers in its Session 4 recap, alongside Konnor Ralph, Corey Jackson, Reece Rule, Hunter Henderson and other developing park riders. Waters later described growing up in Idaho before moving to Utah, with Windells and Wy'East forming part of the route through which he developed his skiing before settling into Salt Lake City's street and park scene.
Waters appeared in August Light (Have a Nice Day), directed by Gavin Rudy and produced by Strictly. The 2021 production assembled a large group of park and street skiers including Ethan Swadburg, Jonah Williams, Sam Lobinsky, Mike King, Mitch Zyzelewski, Emerson Lawton and Waters. Its iF3 listing establishes Waters inside a full ski-film production rather than only short personal edits or session recaps.
The Mountain in My Mind gave Waters a different type of film role. Directed by John Padilla and produced by JackStrong17.org, the documentary combined skier interviews about mental health with ski footage from across western North America. Waters appeared alongside Audrey Friess, Forrest Coots, Bobby Sullivan, Jack Clark, Clare Chapman, Sarah Dolan and Padilla. The project linked urban, park, backcountry and big-mountain skiing within a film structured around personal testimony rather than a conventional action-only format.
In February 2023, LINE Skis promoted Waters to its Pro Team. Later that year, he joined the Chronic Crew for Canyon Closed with Mitchell Brower, Lisa Zimmermann, Robert Ruud, Thomas Trifonitchev, Ana Eyssimont, Pete Koukov, Dicky Thomas and Simeon Glas. Jake Strassman filmed and edited the project across Alta, Snowbird and Woodward Park City. A planned park shoot shifted toward powder and booters when storms closed Little Cottonwood Canyon, forcing the group to use the Chronic skis across changing terrain.
Level 1 invited Waters to Mammoth as one of more than forty professional skiers for SuperUnknown 21. At the final awards, the pros and finalists voted Waters Pro Rider of the Week. Later in 2024, he appeared in LINE's Lateral with LJ Strenio, Reagan Wallis, Will Wesson, Jackson Karsteter, Tucker FitzSimons, Tom Wallisch, Val Festevan, Bennie Osnow and Konnor Ralph. Jake Strassman filmed and edited the short project around backyard features and Woodward Eldora while LINE introduced its first snowboard.
