Simo Peltola

Born: 2001 | Active: 2019-present | Known for: Olympic Winter Games 2022, World Championships and Mediappiness ski films | Current: Finnish World Cup skier | Disciplines: slopestyle, big air

Snowpark sessions across Austria, Quebec, the United States and France filled Simo Peltola's 2019/20 winter away from start gates. The Finnish skier joined an international group assembled for Young's World, moving between park jumps and rails with Matej Svancer, Hugo Laugier, Jeremy Pancras and other riders. Hugo Monmont, Julian Caillet, Andreas Herranz and Titouan Goguillon directed the project. The film appeared during the same period in which Peltola was establishing himself on the senior World Cup circuit.

Silvaplana 2019: World Cup career begins

Peltola made his first World Cup start at Silvaplana on 30 March 2019, finishing 53rd in slopestyle. The FIS lists him as a Finnish athlete born in 2001 and currently affiliated with Ski Club Mayrhofen. His following World Cup winter took him to Font Romeu, where he finished 38th in slopestyle, before a programme increasingly split between slopestyle and big air.

Hugo Monmont 2020: Young's World travels

Young's World was released in 2020 with Peltola among roughly fifteen international riders. Its locations included snowparks in Austria, Quebec, the United States and France, with additional filming in Andorra and the Netherlands. Peltola shared the cast with Matej Svancer, Paul Vieuxtemps, Maxence Gumuchian, Andreas Herranz, Julian Caillet and other young freeskiers. The project gave his skiing a film presence alongside the FIS competition schedule.

Beijing 2022: Finland reaches two events

Peltola represented Finland at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. He finished 27th in men's slopestyle, immediately ahead of Hugo Burvall and Thibault Magnin in the official event classification. One week earlier he had finished 29th in men's big air. The two Olympic starts followed World Cup appearances that winter at Chur, Stubai, Steamboat, Mammoth Mountain and Silvaplana.

Mediappiness 2021: S.W.A links five zones

Peltola also appeared in S.W.A, Hugo Monmont's 2021 Mediappiness film. The project moved through Les Deux Alpes, Les Arcs, Leysin, Canada, street terrain and all-mountain locations. Its cast included Matej Svancer, Daniel Bacher, Édouard Therriault, Maxence Gumuchian, Maxime Vogt and Melvin Morén. The title referenced N.W.A and explicitly joined skiing with the crew's interest in hip-hop.

Chamrousse 2022: Bon Diez heads east

Bon Diez followed in 2022. The Mediappiness crew first captured footage at Chamrousse in December before travelling to Austria for the end of the season. Peltola skied with Andreas Herranz, Julian Caillet, Mateo Socquet, Édouard Therriault, Eleonora Ferrari, Maxence Gumuchian, Maxime Vogt and Hugo Monmont. Downdays described the project as a park-focused film built around friends skiing together without a formal contest structure.

Bakuriani 2023: World Championships double start

The 2023 World Championships at Bakuriani gave Peltola two senior championship results. He finished 26th in slopestyle and 20th in big air. Earlier that winter, his World Cup calendar had included Chur, Copper Mountain, Laax and Tignes, with 23rd in Chur big air and 29th in Tignes slopestyle among his stronger finishes. The Georgian championships extended the competition path that had already taken him through Beijing the previous year.

Copper Mountain 2023–24: World Cup points

Peltola opened the 2023/24 World Cup season with big air events at Chur and Beijing before travelling to Copper Mountain. He finished 25th there on 16 December, collecting six World Cup points. At Tignes in March 2024 he placed 30th in big air and 33rd in slopestyle. Corvatsch then closed his European competition stretch with seventh place in European Cup slopestyle and 13th in big air.

Seiser Alm 2025: European Cup podium

On 18 January 2025, Peltola finished second in the Seiser Alm European Cup slopestyle. The result came between World Cup big air starts at Klagenfurt and Kreischberg and later European Cup appearances at La Clusaz and Laax. His season then moved toward another World Championships campaign, keeping both park disciplines active within the same winter.

Engadin 2025: sixth World Championships start

At Engadin in March 2025, Peltola finished 36th in World Championships slopestyle and 35th in big air. His FIS profile remained active into the 2025/26 listings and records 22 World Cup starts before the current season, alongside six World Championships starts and two Olympic starts. The latest FIS points lists continue to rank him in both slopestyle and big air.
