Paul Vieuxtemps - Guccipol

Hometown: Gap, France | Born: 1999 | Active: 2017-present | Known for: fourth in Tignes World Cup big air in 2026, Asian Winter Games slopestyle bronze in 2025 | Sponsors: Commencal | Disciplines: big air, slopestyle

At Gore Mountain in January 2023, Paul Vieuxtemps faced a rail section where the features sat close enough together to leave little room for mistakes. The jumps were smaller than those he encountered at many international venues, but he described the rails as demanding and enjoyable. Vieuxtemps was skiing for Thailand in New York State while studying at Université Grenoble Alpes, combining the competition schedule with gym work, trampolines and summer airbag training. The week became one of the clearest demonstrations of how his French upbringing and Thai competition career had merged.

Les Orres 2017: Milan opens World Cup

Vieuxtemps grew up skiing at Les Orres after an upbringing in Gap, according to his current Commencal athlete profile. His World Cup career began in Milan on 18 November 2017 in big air. He competed internationally for Thailand, the nationality he holds through his mother alongside French nationality. That first World Cup season established big air as an important part of a programme that would later extend through European Cups, World Championships and slopestyle.

Park City 2019: World Championships debut

The 2019 FIS World Championships brought Vieuxtemps to Canyons in Utah for men's big air. He finished 27th in the final event classification, his first senior World Championships result. Later that month he returned to France and placed third in a FIS big air at La Plagne. The two events showed the scale of his calendar at the time: an international championship in North America followed by a domestic FIS competition in the French Alps.

Beijing 2019: World Cup reaches 21st

In December 2019, Vieuxtemps competed in the Beijing World Cup big air. He finished 21st, improving on his World Championships placing earlier in the year and collecting World Cup points. The result came in a season that also took him through European Cup slopestyle events at Vars, Crans-Montana and Tignes before another big air World Cup start at Destne in February 2020.

Hugo Monmont 2020: Young's World crew

Vieuxtemps also appeared away from contest bibs in Young's World, released in 2020 and produced by Hugo Monmont. The film was shot through the 2019/20 winter in snowparks in Austria, Quebec, the United States and France, with additional footage from Andorra and the Netherlands. Vieuxtemps shared the athlete list with Matej Svancer, Jeremy Pancras, Hugo Laugier, Simo Peltola, Maxence Gumuchian and other riders, while Hugo Monmont, Julian Caillet, Andreas Herranz and Titouan Goguillon directed the project.

Steamboat 2021–22: Davos adds fourth place

The 2021/22 winter began with World Cup big air starts at Chur and Steamboat. Vieuxtemps finished 23rd at Steamboat in December, then moved back onto the European circuit. At Davos on 19 February 2022 he reached fourth place in European Cup big air. His season also included Les Arcs, Alpe d'Huez, Laax, Corvatsch and Stubai, maintaining a calendar split between big air and slopestyle rather than concentrating on a single discipline.

Gore Mountain 2023: Thailand earns two medals

At the Lake Placid FISU World University Games, Vieuxtemps finished third in slopestyle and second in big air at Gore Mountain. He described the resort's jumps as relatively small and the rail section as tightly spaced. The medals were his first at international championship level and the first winter medals for Thailand at the FISU World University Games. He was then studying at Université Grenoble Alpes and travelled directly from the event toward a street-freestyle filming trip in Canada.

Yabuli 2025: Rai Kasamura leads Asia

The Asian Winter Games at Yabuli placed Vieuxtemps on another international podium on 11 February 2025. He finished third in slopestyle behind Japanese skiers Rai Kasamura and Ruka Ito, becoming Thailand's first Asian Winter Games medallist in the discipline. The following day he finished sixth in big air. His FIS season continued through Vars, Laax and Trysil after a winter that had also produced sixth place in the Font Romeu European Cup big air.

Tignes 2026: World Cup career best

On 20 March 2026, Vieuxtemps reached fourth place in the Tignes World Cup big air, the strongest World Cup finish found in his international record. The result followed a season containing big air World Cups at Secret Garden, Beijing and Steamboat, plus slopestyle at Snowmass. His FIS profile remained active into the 2026/27 points lists, while Commencal continued to place him in its freeski roster and identify him with its ABSOLUT freestyle skis.
