Hometown: Lalitpur, Nepal | Active: 2019-present | Known for: Swedish Championship halfpipe and rail bronze in 2026, A Derailed Human Dream | Disciplines: slopestyle, big air, halfpipe, rail

At the Ursus Snowpark in Madonna di Campiglio on 13 March 2024, Theo Thorén linked a left 270 onto the rail with a frontside 450 out before carrying that rhythm into the jumps. A right double cork 1080 safety was followed by a left double cork 1260 tail, then a switch left 270 on and 270 off. He closed the run with a left 540. The sequence came during the World Rookie Tour finals, where the Swedish skier had arrived after several winters centred on park laps in Sälen and Kläppen.

Sälen 2019: park skiing takes over

Thorén was born in Lalitpur, Nepal, on 5 April 2007 and grew up in Sälen after moving to Sweden as a young child. He first skied at three and began alpine training at five. By seven he was doing backflips and spending increasing amounts of time in the park. His first Swedish championship gold came in 2019 at age eleven. By 2022, he was training with Sälens IF, taking the bus to Kläppen after school on Fridays and competing above his normal age category in the Swedish Slopestyle Tour. A 2022 Freeride profile also documented Peak Performance and 1000 Skis support during that period.

Madonna di Campiglio 2024: Rookie double

Thorén reached the World Rookie Tour finals after competing at the Livigno stop earlier in the winter. In Madonna di Campiglio he secured the Rookie slopestyle victory with his first final run, finishing ahead of fellow Swede Victor Knutsen. With the result already decided before his second run, Thorén used the remaining lap to attempt a triple. He then won the Rookie big air competition during the same finals week, completing a two-discipline sweep for Sweden. The World Rookie Tour final report records the slopestyle run and its trick sequence.

Livigno and Bakuriani: international junior fields

Later in March 2024, Thorén competed at the FIS Junior World Championships in Livigno/Mottolino. He scored 79.33 in his strongest qualification run and finished 16th in the final event classification for slopestyle. The following winter he represented Sweden at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Bakuriani. He missed the twelve-skier slopestyle final by one position after scoring 70.50 in qualification and finished 13th; in big air he placed 12th.

Covent Garden 2024: rails on London streets

Competition skiing was only one part of Thorén's park activity. On 27 September 2024 he joined Alex Hackel at a Peak Performance rail jam in Covent Garden. The temporary setup used a Jibworx bus as a drop-in, with a flat rail, box and quarterpipe fed by an electric winch. Thorén concentrated on the quarterpipe while Hackel worked the jib features. Peak Performance later listed Thorén on its global team and described him as a park jibber involved in development of the brand's Edge collection.

Kläppen 2026: senior Swedish medals

Thorén's 2025/26 FIS season included a slopestyle victory at Kiruna in December, European Cup starts and fourth place in the Swedish Championship slopestyle. The senior national championships also added two podiums in disciplines outside his main FIS programme. At Kläppen he took bronze in halfpipe behind Linus Ekström and Melvin Seliberg, then another bronze in rail behind Seliberg and Hugo Aspehult. Those results supplied his first senior national championship medals retained in this selection.

Norrøna 2026: skiing enters a film project

In 2026, Thorén joined Fien Van Zwieten, Magnus Granér, Bren Gruber, Phillip Schwarz and Pierre Emile Rochat in A Derailed Human Dream. Van Zwieten directed the Norwegian production for Kraxtagg, combining conventional ski segments with abstract filmmaking around her experience of ADHD. The iF3 film entry credits Thorén among the athletes, while the film also entered the 2026 Fri Flyt Film Tour programme.

On 2 October 2026, A Derailed Human Dream was screened on the Fri Flyt Film Tour programme at Skarsnuten in Hemsedal, providing the latest dated project featuring Thorén after his 2025/26 competition season.
