Hometown: Blue Hill, Maine | Active: 2019-present | Known for: Maine street skiing, Sugarloaf terrain parks and Big Mess of Homies | Current: Sugarloaf | Disciplines: street skiing, park skiing
Samuel “Sam” Scheff built his public ski profile around Maine rather than an international contest circuit. Sugarloaf parks, spring snow and street spots became recurring settings as Scheff moved between riding, filming and eventually working directly on terrain parks. By 2025, that path had carried him from small North Coast edits to a Newschoolers Originals production and a standout performance during Quebec's AKAMP summer session.
Scheff attended the University of Maine at Farmington from 2017 to 2022 and was part of its freeride programme. A 2019 university dean's-list release identifies Samuel Scheff as being from Blue Hill, Maine. His college skiing later reached the national level: Activity Maine records Samuel Scheff, Ryan Brueninghaus and Carson Theriault finishing sixth in the men's freeski team combined at the USCSA National Championships, at the time the best men's freeski national result in UMF history.
Scheff's earliest clearly dated public ski footage found in this research comes from 2019. North Coast's Wet Loaf listed him with Rowan Stamp, Ben Amburgey, Quinn Fogarty and other Sugarloaf riders. He continued appearing in Maine projects such as In the 207 and MASKED UP FISHEYE, using rails and shaped park features at Sugarloaf, Sunday River and Titcomb. These were crew edits rather than formal films, but they establish Scheff's sustained connection to the region's park and street community.
His strongest early film credit arrived with Big Mess of Homies. Released by North Coast in November 2021, the full street movie combined footage from a Maine ski scene the crew described as relatively isolated from the rest of the East Coast. Scheff appeared with Kyle Bell, Ryan and Sean Brueninghaus, Rowan Stamp, Carson Theriault, Ben Amburgey, Tommy Cogswell and others. Ben Amburgey and Ian Bohrmann handled the primary filming and editing.
Scheff's involvement with terrain parks also developed professionally. A 2023 terrain-park industry programme listed Sam Scheff as Sugarloaf's Lead Park Ranger, alongside park builders and supervisors from resorts across North America. His professional profile continues to list employment at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley. The role connects his skiing directly to feature construction and park operations rather than treating the resort simply as a filming location.
At AKAMP in Quebec during summer 2025, Scheff stood out during Phil “B-Dog” Casabon's rail jam. Newschoolers highlighted transfers and technical combinations that other riders were not attempting and reported that Scheff earned the event's grand prize. He then appeared in Stacks Of Hay, the opening episode of Newschoolers Originals Season 4. PRIME Skiing listed him alongside Mat Dufresne, Chris Bechtold, Edjoy, Rylie Warnick, Alexis Fortin, B-Dog and other East Coast and Quebec riders in the Xavier Mayrand-produced project.
