Dylan Siggers

Hometown: Fernie, Canada | Active: 2013-present | Known for: Burrrlapz films, SPLIFF and a LINE Skis pro model | Sponsors: LINE Skis, Smith | Disciplines: freeride, backcountry freestyle

Low cloud hung over Grand Targhee during a five-day shoot in 2022 as Dylan Siggers moved between resort gullies, cliff drops and backcountry features with Jonnie Merrill, Jake Hopfinger, Liam Morgan, Wing Tai Barrymore and Garrett Capel. The weather supplied the name Clag Monsters, but the project also reflected the path Siggers had built from Fernie: skiing natural terrain, filming friends and turning trips into finished movies. By then, those jobs were no longer separate parts of his winter.

Kicking Horse 2013–14: Wrangle the Chute

Siggers' early competition record includes second place at Wrangle the Chute in 2013, behind Carter MacMillan and ahead of Jordy Kinder. One year later he returned to Kicking Horse and won the 2014 edition on the Terminator North venue. Fernie Alpine Resort later described the result as one of several freeski contest victories from a period when he was already combining skiing with photography and filmmaking.

Mount Snow 2015: SuperUnknown reaches finals

Level 1 selected Siggers as one of ten finalists for SuperUnknown XII in 2015. The finals took place at Carinthia Parks at Mount Snow, Vermont, with Alec Nelson, Ben Smith, Bendik Øye, Ethan Swadburg, Gabe Taube, Geoff Lovelace, Jonah Williams, Martin Solhaugen and Vegard Hokstad completing the field. His finalist edit came from a skier whose home mountain had pushed him toward natural transitions and self-filmed projects more often than a conventional terrain-park programme.

Fernie 2015–18: Burrrlapz becomes a crew

Siggers developed Burrrlapz with Josh McSkimming and Brody McSkimming around Fernie and other British Columbia locations. The crew grew from friends filming one another into a production identity for full ski projects. In 2018, Burrrlapz won the World Ski and Snowboard Festival's Intersection filmmaking competition, giving Siggers a competition result behind the camera after his earlier freeski contests. Fernie remained the base while the crew travelled through the Powder Highway and farther across Canada.

British Columbia 2021: Football returns Burrrlapz

Football collected the Burrrlapz 2020/21 season into a full home movie. Siggers skied with Liam Morgan, Mikel Witlox, Sophie Perrault, Garrett Capel, Joshua Lloyd, Josh McSkimming and other friends across British Columbia. LINE presented the film as a collective effort in which the riders also built the production. The same winter produced Beat Pad around Revelstoke pillow lines and Checker Head around Fernie, extending Burrrlapz through smaller releases alongside the full movie.

British Columbia 2022: Jake Strassman joins Peace Lily

Peace Lily was made by Siggers and Jake Strassman with Liam Morgan, Zak Mousseau and Steve Reed. It was the first winter in which the group worked with Strassman as a dedicated filmer for the full season, leaving Siggers more time to concentrate on skiing. Additional riders included Josh Herbert, Mitchell Brower, Johan Lovey, Julius Champion and Jessy Desjardins. Siggers explained the title through the idea of pursuing a smoother, easier and more enjoyable filmmaking process.

Revelstoke 2023: Wet Machine stays low

Wet Machine put Siggers into a seven-skier LINE crew with Jonnie Merrill, Jake Hopfinger, Ben Richards, Kate Wilson, Wing Tai Barrymore and Garrett Capel. January avalanche danger around Revelstoke kept high-alpine lines outside the plan, so the group spent much of its two-week shoot in smaller terrain, pillows and backcountry booters. LINE cut the trip into a nine-minute film, following Clag Monsters as another project centred on its freeride team.

Valemount 2024: What's Your Number? expands

What's Your Number? brought the LINE freeride team to the Rocky Mountain Trench around Valemount for three weeks in February 2024. Nick Nault and Lucas Reid filmed the trip while Siggers edited the finished project and also skied alongside Garrett Capel, Ben Richards, Rachael Anderson, Ana Eyssimont, Jake Hopfinger, Jonnie Merrill, Liam Morgan and others. Snowmobiles provided access to natural lines and backcountry jumps during the shoot.

Sweden 2024: SPLIFF puts Siggers in charge

SPLIFF crossed Canada, Sweden and Austria with Siggers, Liam Morgan and Evan Marineau. Siggers directed and produced the short film while also skiing and contributing camera work alongside Paul Genovese, Seth Quinnett, Sophie Perrault, Sam Tuff, Lucas Reid, Sindre Sandström and Morgan. The project reached the 2024 iF3 Movie Awards nominations for Best Editing, Jury's Pick and Best Short Movie, although it did not win those categories.

Fernie 2025: GRUMBO meets the Sakana

GRUMBO accompanied Siggers' first signature ski with LINE, a limited-edition version of the Sakana carrying his own graphic and construction changes for switch landings. Paul Genovese, Liam Morgan, Sophie Perrault and Siggers made the film, with footage moving from Japanese street spots to Fernie's sidecountry. Smith continues to list Fernie as his hometown and Siggers as a professional skier, filmmaker, cyclist and musician.
