Nubs Nob Ski Area Nubs Nob Ski Area was opened in 1958 by Nubby and Dorie Sarns, a local couple who wanted a place to ski with their friends. In 1985, the Nobs Nob snowmaking gun was created and patented. Nubs Nob Ski Area claims to have had the first free beginner area in the country in 1992. Today, Nubs Nob is still family-owned. It?s earned numerous awards in the skiing and snowboarding industry. It is located in Pleasantview Township, Michigan. Nubs Nob has 53 Runs, 248 acres, and a 427-foot vertical drop. This mountain is unique because every chairlift is painted a different color. This is an astonishing good idea and I?m surprised more ski areas haven?t done this. Every lift being a different color helps new folks navigate around the mountain. Another cool fact about Nubs Nob is they started creating and building their snowmaking equipment in 1979 and patented the Nubs Nob snowmaking gun in 1985. I?ve been coming to Nubs Nob since I was a kid. The ski area has a great vibe. They have a dedicated slope for local race teams to train and compete. The lodge at the bottom has an incredible fireplace with plenty of lounge seating. Nubs Nob is a destination ski area for regional skiers and snowboarders. It is because another resort, The Highlands at Harbor Springs is less than 2 miles away. Both ski areas offer a large acreage of skiing and riding for the area. Pairing visits to both resorts makes this part of Michigan attractive to regional skiers willing to drive further for good skiing and snowboarding. It?s a great spot to ski and snowboard for those within driving distance. https://www.nubsnob.com/ Nubs Nob Ski Area 500 Nub?s Nob Road Harbor Springs, MI 49740 (231) 526-2131 (800) SKI-NUBS Ski School: (231) 526-2300 info@nubsnob.com
