Active: 2019-present | Known for: Kicking Horse SLVSH game and IFSA Challenger competition | Disciplines: freeride, big mountain skiing
Cloud covered Kicking Horse in April 2025 when Ry Mann and Townsend Reed took the SLVSH format away from its usual terrain-park setting. The two skiers worked through the British Columbia mountain using cliffs, chutes and natural terrain for their calls. FREESKIER later described the day as socked in, while the finished game included flips, 360s, backflips and straight airs. For Mann, the session connected his Sun Valley background with the freeride competition terrain that would bring him back to Kicking Horse the following winter.
Mann appears in the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation big-mountain programme as a junior competitor at Grand Targhee in February 2019. The regional event used two runs over the weekend and served as a qualifier for nationals. Mann finished 20th in the boys' 12–14 category. The same SVSEF group included Frances Cherp, Addie Rafford, Max Moss, Thor Jaramillo, Bruce O'Donnell and Toby Rafford across the different age divisions.
By 2025, Mann was being presented publicly as a skier from the Sun Valley, Idaho scene. His freeride skiing moved beyond junior competition into a filmed head-to-head format when SLVSH paired him with Townsend Reed of Whitefish. The matchup used Kicking Horse Mountain Resort rather than a purpose-built park, giving the two athletes cliffs and natural transitions for the same call-and-response structure normally associated with rails and jumps.
The SLVSH game was filmed at Kicking Horse in April 2025 and released publicly in September 2026. Mann and Reed skied through flat light and difficult visibility, using the mountain's freeride terrain for flips, 360s, backflips and straight airs. The finished episode runs a little over ten minutes and places Mann as one of only two featured skiers, giving him a defined full-length role within the established SLVSH series.
Mann later competed for Montana State University in the 2026 collegiate freeride season. The IFSA Hall of Champions lists Montana State first in the collegiate standings with 20,440 points. Mann contributed 4,080, alongside Johnny Duty, Paul Melchert, Nathan Pruzan and Nicco Aray-Oliver. The team result placed him inside a university programme competing across the North American freeride system rather than the FIS park circuit.
Mann returned to Kicking Horse for the 2026 IFSA Challenger Stop #3. He finished sixth in the men's ski classification. Kane Gascoigne won ahead of Tyler Curle and Townsend Reed, while Nathan Pruzan and Louis Overington filled the two positions immediately before Mann. The result put him inside the top ten of a Challenger field at the same mountain where his SLVSH episode had been filmed the previous spring.
